Choosing the Right Builder

When you're looking for a pool builder, there are a few things you should keep in mind to make sure you're getting the best fit for your needs. Here are a few tips to help you out:

  • Get references from the builder. Ask for people they've worked with before who have had similar projects to yours, and try to visit those people to see the finished product and talk to them about their experience with the builder. If a builder can't give you references, that's a red flag.

  • Make sure the builder is insured. They should have insurance to cover any damages or injuries that may happen during the building process. Check to see what kind of insurance they have and make sure you're not taking on any unexpected liabilities.

  • Understand the payment and cost structure. Find out how much of the cost you'll pay upfront and when the rest will be due. Be careful if a builder asks for more than 66% of the cost before the pool's concrete layer is added. Also, make sure you understand what's included in the contract and what's not, to avoid any surprises later on.

  • Ask the builder to visit the site before giving you a quote. A reputable builder will only give you a quote after they've surveyed the space and talked through the project with you. If someone gives you a quote without doing that, be wary.

  • Make sure you feel comfortable with the builder. You'll be working closely with them throughout the project, so it's important that you trust and get along with them.
